INEC Lament over Low Voters Registration in Katsina State

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Katsina State has communicated worry over the unfortunate turnout of occupants enrolling for the Permanent Voter Card in the recently settled 1,750 surveying units.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Jibril Zarewa, uncovered this in a meeting with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Katsina.

He said that one year after the beginning of PVC enrollment, there was an unfortunate turnout of individuals for enlistment in the recently settled surveying units.

Zarewa said, “In May 2022 when we did examination, we understood out of the 1,750 recently settled surveying units, around 1,200 units didn’t have in excess of 50 individuals who enrolled in every one of them.

“This enlistment included moves. A portion of the surveying units have zero enrollment, some have only one, exactly five while some poor person in excess of 50 individuals who enlisted.

He unveiled that at first there were 4,902 surveying units in the state however with the production of the extra ones, there are 6,652 surveying units as of now.

Zarewa made sense of that the assortment of the PVCs is calculable, saying towards the 2019 political decision, INEC needed to stop the issuance of the PVCs.
