The former governor of Zamfara State Ahmed Yerima has explained why he Introduced Sheria Law into the state.
Addressing jurnalist after a meeting with president Muhammad Buhari on Friday May 6, the former governor said he Introduced Sheria Law in the state inline with the constitution of freedom of Religion.
commenting of being perceived as a religious extremist, Yerima described it as ignorance adding that it is one of things he will fight if elected as a president of Nigeria.
on the issues of Sheria, I am a Muslim and I say it every were I go, that I am a Muslim and I want to die as Muslim, like I said I am going to fight the problems of ignorance and this one of them. People don’t know and Alot of people don’t know what the constitution of Nigeria sections 38. Has provided for freedom of religion including the freedom of change your religious if you want to, to practice alone or in a community with others, in private or in public.
So, as the governor of the state I follow the constitutional provisions in law.
